Exploring the development and implementation of appropriate technology in a learning environment
Digital portfolio of Joy A. Gayler
Framework, Rationale and Focus
FRAMEWORK: I have chosen the following
theme to act as a framework for my portfolio because it centers
around my work as an instructional designer, technology leader, webmaster, and instructor: Developing and implementing
appropriate technology for a learning environment.
Definition of appropriate technology: Appropriate technology, in
the context of my framework, means utilizing a technical
modality with capabilities of addressing a known instructional
need, while staying within the realm of resource availability.
RATIONALE: The purpose of my portfolio
is to document and validate my professional accomplishments and
teaching experience, document my educational training and
achievements, serve as a means for self-reflection, act as a tool
to track future projects and goals, and electronically preserve
my body of work in a centralized location.
FOCUS: My portfolio is intended for the following
audiences:
• potential employers and clients
• my colleagues
• my students

of technology.

As webmaster, I design and manage
websites, as well as develop and implement multimedia
interactivity as appropriate.
Instructor
In my role as instructor I strive
to infuse my teaching with technology appropriate for the
purpose of creating learner-centered scenarios while
appreciating the diversity of learning styles.
