IN THIS SECTION: This section offers information on how to deal with some common problems that may arise when copying or printing from your duplicator unit.
troubleshooting
Autoloader picking up multiple discs at once
• Try fanning the discs before you stack them in
your auto-
loading duplicator. The lacquered surfaces on CD-R and DVD-R media
can
sometimes cause the discs to stick together (CDRom2Go.com, 2006).
Buttons on duplicator do not function, but power
source is good.
• The duplicator may be busy on a task. Give the
duplicator time to finish
processing last job and try again. You may also try turning off the
machine, and
then restarting the machine after a minute. Be aware that will
cancel any jobs
already in the queue. (Mediatechnics Systems Inc., n.d.)
Can I copy DVDs to CD or vise-versa
• No, DVDs will only copy to DVD Media, and CDs will
only copy CD media.
(CDRom2Go.com, 2006).
CD/DVD duplicator won’t power up.
• Check power cords and cables for secure
connections.
• Check power strip or outlet, some power strips have a
reset button or fuse on
them.
Error messages generated from CD/DVD Duplicator
•Target overflow error – This error occurs
when the amount of information exceeds
the capacity of the blank disc. This may be due to the master being
higher density
than the blank disc. Make sure your blanks have enough data capacity to
record
the size of the file on the master. If you have an 80min master and try
to record
to 74min blanks you will get this error.
•Target error – Represents an error related to
the blank media. This could be due
to a number of reasons such as the media is not blank, the media is of
poor
quality or the media may be inserted upside down. This is common with
Diamond
Silver media or with business card and mini media as they are sometimes
hard to
distinguish which side is the recordable side. The way to distinguish the
recordable side is to look for a stacking ring, a little bump that is
where the silver
part of the disc meets the clear middle hub, that is the recordable side
of the
disc the bump should go down into the drive (CDRom2Go.com, 2006).
Master disc cannot be read and shows error message
• Check the format of your CD/DVD master.
• Check the master CD/DVD itself for damage.
• Your master disc may be copy protected. (Mediatechnics
Systems Inc., n.d.)
Print quality using ink-jet has deteriorated
• It may be necessary to clean the ink cartridge
nozzles if you notice reduced print
quality or if you suspect a cartridge nozzle has become dried out or
clogged.
Remove the print cartridge(s). Moisten a lint-free cloth with water. Hold
the
moistened cloth against the nozzles for three seconds to “wick” some
additional
ink onto the damp cloth. Apply slight pressure to wipe the nozzle.
Replace
cartridge (Primera, 2006, p. 62).
