Educational Philosophy
My educational philosophy emphasizes
excellence in teaching, the effective utilization of technology,
and the importance of practical approaches that put didactic
theory into action. This philosophy is reflected in my teaching
style, which is both motivational and facilitation-based. I seek
to create learning environments that are rich with relevant and
authentic examples that motivate students to engage in active
learning.
For me, excellence in teaching includes the infusion of modern
technological approaches, where appropriate, to learning
experiences, as well as respect for diversity of learning
styles. I realize there is no one-size-fits-all approach to
teaching or learning and that respecting each student’s personal
approach to learning can be challenging. I believe that it is
important to create a positive learning environment where
diversity in learning styles is accepted and embraced.
I believe that technology can and should be used effectively in
the teaching and learning process. In my opinion, technology
becomes effective when it actually enhances measurable outcomes
and is not merely used for the sake of appearing to embrace
novelty. I believe that it is our responsibility, as educators,
to develop our technological skills to a level that allows for
effective and judicious use of technology to transform the
teaching/learning process and the resultant outcomes.
Furthermore, I believe that it is crucial for administrators to
understand the impact of technology in education and be strong
and vocal
advocates for twenty-first century learning environments in
their strategic planning processes.
I believe that one way to develop a student’s ability to learn
how to learn is to create a problem-based environment in which
she can practice critical and creative thinking skills. I find
that the use of modern technology in this arena can provide a
dynamic approach to problem-solving and provide him with the
ability to confidently transfer classroom-based knowledge,
skills and attitudes to real-world situations.
I believe the plethora of technological modalities is opening
doors to possibilities never before imagined in helping learners
achieve maximum potentials. It is my desire to embrace these
methodologies and use them effectively for transformational
learning.
